weather is finally improving, just training in shorts and top which is mint, especially after spending all last year in the winter its finally nice to be able to train without arm or leg warmers on!! speaking of new kit got the new subway/avanti team tops over here now, with a flash new sponsor on them, ill take a photo tonight and chuck it on here.
watching mtv cribs at the moment, some people just have way way too much money hahaha, one guy has 500 pairs of shoes in a specially made shoe wardrobe, i think ive got about 6 pairs of shoes all up, so ive got a long long way to go

eat your heart out david attenborough

today i got into it and really mixed it up with mother nature
i just about ran this sucker over

hes a rather large tarantula, or she even, i didnt even know what the hell it was until we turned around. and let me tell you it was bloody massive. its the biggest spider i have ever seen in my life, would be at least half the size of my hand. then to top it all off, i was decending down a hill, and ran over a bloody snake!! just about dropped it as a) it was rather big and it just about took my front wheel out and b) as soon as i realised what i hit i proceeded to pack myself.
interesting day at the office to say the least.

racing about

i decided to get up this morning and go to a race, it was a little bit of a gamble as it was 36 bucks to enter, so had to back myself to get somewhat of a result. everything went really well, was a nice 4 corner crit, 90 min long, and my legs finally felt good. long story short i punctured right in the first lap which sucked balls, luckily the tire self sealed itself, and i was able to organise another wheel from the boys from Belize and got back up and running straight away.
ended up 8th in the kick, which wasnt to bad, it was hard trying to match everybody that had teams there in the leadout, i was surfing the back of a couple of teams and avoided the 4 crashes in the last two laps which was mint, staying upright it always a bonus, and finished in the money, so a good day all out.
just sat down with a beer to watch the NBA finals, hopefully LA will finish off the magic tonight!

sweet surfing beach

i went training today and got completely lost, i headed south for a change, and wound up at this magic surf beach

well, what you have to imagine here is that there are about 100 surfers all out in the water in each photo, its just that my cell phone is rubbish and doesnt take great photos. you get the general idea though.

hutchinson tubeless

i first saw these back on guddys team bike at the start of 2008 and he was raving about them, so after a year or so, and after the magic jason rico chucked them on my bike to try-i was pretty amped to get out the door and see how they did.
since they have no tube in the tire at all they roll alot smoother, it actually felt like i was out rolling on tubulars rather then a normal tire! you can also run them at lower PSI then normal as you have no worries about pinch flats or anything like that, so i normally run about 85 in the front and 95 in the back.
they handle like a dream, i was cornering alot better on a couple of big decents today and they never seemed to put a foot wrong anywhere which was mint.
one of the best features is the latex gunk, i guess you would call it that you put in through the valve in an easy pressurised can that you can get, which instantly seals any small holes from glass etc you may pick up out riding, while only losing about 5-10psi before the hole seals. PERFECT for training, imagining never really having to stop for a flat again if its pissing rain or freezing cold? how much at that moment would you pay not to have a flat, so the tires pay for themselves really. so when i leave here im raiding the cupboards and bringin a boatload back with me, best thing ive put on my bike in ages, i give them and uncle rico for putting them on my bike two thumbs up!!!!

i went for a mint ride today along the pacific coast highway for 5 hours, this is laguna beach just down the road from the house, went past alot of really mint beaches, lots of womans volleyball going on as well, which i fully condone-great sport that one

cruising in orange county

ive just shifted into the ricos pad down here in lovely orange county.
so far so good, i dropped them off at the airport this afternoon and they have been both great and silly enough to trust me to house sit for them for about 3 weeks!!!!
as it stands, i drove their car back from the airport, emptied the dishwasher, and cooked myself tea using the stove without burning, crashing or breaking anything, so im calling this day a success.
quite weird having the house being quiet though, last few days have been filled with alex ( the ricos kick ass son) and his friends running riot around the house, playing nintendo wii and building forts etc with blankets and chairs.
i almost got beaten by an 8 year old girl at uno, but managed to gain a last minute victory, which was pretty awesome, and involved a victory dance by me, much to her disgust. my main aim while they are away is to get good enough to beat alex at tennis and boxing on the wii, he knocked me out twice today, so i need to get in some training.
ive started running tubeless tires on my bike as well so ill get a few photos of those on board and write about them tomorrow, but they kick ass!!!!!
just finished stretching and it just reminded me how boring it is haha, but family guy is on tv so i cant really complain too much really.
