dirty crits&the jigsaw house
well the trip the newcastle was a touch of a disaster, went great in one race, then sucked in the other one. the crit on the friday night ticked off two new “best of catergories” ie it was the coldest and dirtiest crit i have ever done. it was also tipping down with rain all night, but it wasnt the wettest, that honour falls to the raleigh twilight crit last year in north carolina, as you can see from the photo, it was pretty dark and very wet

im in the middle of that thing, and after riding round for about 80km, i was leading my teamate out and flatted with 2 corners to go, ah, it wasnt a whole lot of fun, but from memory i think we won the race, most of the primes and a flat-screen computer monitor, as you do in the states.
friday night was just messy, it was through a park and all the rain had washed crap off the side of the course all onto it, and i just got filthy. that filthy that we all pretty much wrote off a set of kit each as we just couldnt get it clean, even after 2 washes and soaking it and doing all the fancy stuff you should do, it was ruined. they joys of light coloured kit in the mud haha.
sunday was the beaumont trophy, course was pretty hard and i felt rubbish fom the blocks, no energy or power. had to pull the pin after an hour and couldnt figure out what the hell was going on, on the train home that night it all kinda made sense when i started spewing and felt grotty. i must have gotten something in my mouth on friday night in the mess and picked up a little bug, i cant think of anything else so thats what im going to run with.
whilst i felt grotty i still had a dilema of how to basically sort out the biggest jigsaw puzzle in my life to date and all the stuff in the flat into one room. we had new carpet being put in on the monday morning and had to spread it over 2 days as we didnt have enough space to put everything from the flat into. so we emptied out the kitchen and one of the bedrooms into another bedroom, then got the carpet laid in there, then very carefully re-assembled the kitchen and took all the stuff out of one bedroom into another so that could get done today. it wasnt the most fun thing ive ever done, pulling beds completely to bits, and packing im fine. its the other end where i had to put things back together and sort out what goes where that really wasnt a barrel of laughs. anyways it all got done and i even improved my skills about the home, hanging a new mirror in the bathroom, plus a new toilet roll holder, and a soap dish and toothbrush holder. all done with an electric drill. brilliant. ive decided playing with power tools is very theraputic and enjoyable. even though i got to play with a whole heap of them when i was an aluminium joiner, theyre still fun&the novelty hasnt worn off. i think next on the shopping list will be a chainsaw. a dirty great big one. they command respect those things, i mean if youve ever seen a guy crank one up and get it revving, you instantly think he knows what hes up too. however i think if i got one, i would end up in a whole bunch of trouble, as buying one then cranking it up in an inner city flat would probably lead to a visit from PC Plod. actually that could be a good idea, he could help me put the bed together while hes here
